It’s been over a month since my last blog. We’ve had a busy month. The highlight? We participated in an amazing church planting trip to Santa Cruz, Bolivia. God allowed us to partner with 25 other North Americans and local Bolivian believers to plant eight new churches, lead many to faith in Christ and begin the discipleship process for these new believers. Unlike trips where the focus is building construction, this trip focused on door-to-door evangelism and follow-up discipleship. Each time I have gone on such trips, I have seen the power of partnering with God’s children to plant new churches as Christ builds His church.
For me, our trip was confirmed as an overwhelming success on the second day. We stopped by the home of a struggling single mom, Lordes. She welcomed us warmly, listened intently to our story of faith and forgiveness available in Christ, and readily responded by trusting Jesus. As we continued to talk, Lordes began sharing more of her story. She told us how she had been struggling with faith in God and had asked God that morning to provide her some answers. Trough tears, Lordes shared how she rejoiced when she discovered our purpose for knocking at her door. It seems God had sent us over 5000 miles to provide the answer to her call to the Lord. God showed His sovereign power many other times on this trip as He allowed us to work in His harvest field.
Another win this month came as we received gifts and prayer commitments from a number of you. We are truly grateful for you partnership.
However, we have been struggling to match up plans with resources. We have missed our fund raising goals and now must reconsider our time line and plans. We must face the necessity of taking a step back. We hoped to move to Ft McPherson in early June to begin our work in the isolated communities of northwestern Canada. However, we believe God is leading us to a better plan that will allow us to reach out to these communities this summer and return to Orlando in the fall to continue raising support for a move to Ft McPherson in the spring of 2009.
Why is this plan better? Well first, we have a significant portion of the resources we will need to execute it. Second, it will allow us to fly into each community, prayer walk the community and begin the process of building relationships. Finally, it will allow us to more thoroughly plan our strategy in reaching these communities.
So, we ask you to continue to pray for us and for these communities as we ask God to send workers into the harvest. Some of you have been considering partnering with us financially. Your timely partnership will help us to take two steps forward as we join with the Lord in preparing the ground for an abundant harvest.
